Description:
Nine Parchments is a co-operative blast'em up game of magical mayhem from Frozenbyte, creators of the Trine series! Runaway apprentice wizards seize the opportunity to complete their spellbooks by going after the lost Nine Parchments. As the would-be wizards rapidly acquire powerful new spells without learning proper safety measures, it's natural their hasty progress results in plenty of deadly accidents... Nine Parchments combines real-time spell-shooting action with RPG elements - level up your character and collect magical loot, filling your wardrobe with a myriad of wizard hats and powerful staves.

Step 1: Complete the Game, Collect Staves, and Unlock Characters
Your first task should be to play through the story and try to unlock as many characters as possible. Difficulty here doesn't matter, so play on Easy if you'd like. While not strictly necessary for any achievements, collecting the quills for extra staves can be helpful. You can use the videos here for that if you'd like. They aren't too hidden though.

As you go through the story, pay attention to the locations of the staves inside the levels, as well as where the quests to unlock certain characters will be located. I put these in chronological order here . There is one character you can't unlock on this playthrough, which is Amadeus. This is because his staff is on the last stage, but his quest is on an earlier stage. There is no level select, so be sure to pay attention for what to do in each level.

In addition, start paying attention to the "feats" required to unlock character variants. Basically all the achievement in the game are tied to unlocking these, so it's very important. Many will come naturally, and we have to beat the game two more times, so don't worry a ton about them on your first go. Check the full list of feats here to at least familiarize yourself with them.

Do keep in mind, you can start a new save file whenever you'd like, but they are specific to the type you choose. If you start one in co-op, that save file will only work in co-op, and a single player game won't allow you to invite anyone, etc. However, progress for hats, staves, characters, and variants are all shared between every save file.

Step 2: Complete the Game Again and Unlock Variants
You will now need to run through the game a second time. Once again, difficulty doesn't matter so play however you want. You should have all the staves from the previous playthrough, and hopefully have unlocked all the characters in that step aside from Amadeus. Be sure to pay attention to his quest and unlock him during this playthrough, and continue to work on the feats to unlock character variants as best you can. It's probably a good idea to use a different character in this step than Step 1 to have a different variety of spells, but optional.

Step 3: Complete Hardcore Mode and Unlock Gilded Variants
Hardcore Mode is your typical "one-life" mode, though you do have one "second chance" per level in this game. There are also multiple checkpoints, and if you force quit the game and return to the dashboard when reaching one, you can reload the game to get your second chance back if it was used, so be sure to take advantage of that. It is very helpful to use Amadeus during this step to make his Gilded quest easier, but not entirely required. It'll be tough to use him from Level 1 and you might die a few times and have to restart before you're successful though.

During this step, you will unlock all the Gilded variants of characters by re-doing the same quests that unlocked them in the first place. The exceptions to that are Cornelius which is unlocked simply by completing Hardcore mode in general, Gislan has a brand new quest in Chapter 21, and Amadeus has a unique quest in Chapter 29. Again, all these depend on having their respective staves in your inventory, so follow the guide to get all those in Step 1.

Step 4: Unlock Remaining Variants
It's entirely probably that after three full playthroughs, there still might be some feats that eluded you for one reason or another. Many of them are made easier by using the character associated, so you may need a few partial playthroughs with the various characters to nab the rest of the variants. Check what feats you're missing and see the guide for further help with unlocking any character variations to complete the remainder of the achievements.
